Music Video: Lady Gaga - Marry the night

After keeping us on dry land for way to long, Lady Gaga finally decided to eventually release the visuals for "Marry the night". As some of you might already know, I was pretty friggin' excited for this video, from the moment I watched  "The Prelude Pathétique" onward. But after watching this video, it kinda left me indifferent.

Gaga might have promised us, an in-depth view into her past and a very personal video, but somehow she focused way to much on stuff that did not give away much. The intro was way to long for my taste, I was pretty much annoyed by the time I watched it again yesterday. (it might have been my boyfriends fault, for shoving it down my throat several times a week)

I really have to give it to Gaga in some parts her actin' was spot on, but there was really some cringe worthy moments for example, this hell of a cliché, "I'm gonna be a star", or "It's sort of like my past is an unfinished painting", oh com'on how cheesy can you get? I really thought this video would convince me, but it left me very cold. I'm still wondering myself why she even bothered directing a  fifteen minutes video?

Let's fact it, she's not really giving out much information in the first eight minutes. I think the reason why so many people gote fed up with her, is because almost every video she releases, uses this mini-movie melodrama-bullshit that was probably nice the first time around, the second time it might have gotten better and by the third time it started to stink. By know the idea simply got tired and errr-body is cussing at her.

I was actually discussing with my boyfriend yesterday how the first half of the video was probably better, and the actual video was alright, but nothing special in itself. But I got to disagree with him and with my thinking of yesterday. Actually what the first half of the video made, is build up this crazy anticipation for the video to find out what happened with this woman, but in the end what came afterwards was simply confusing and not very informative. That's when I came to the conclusion - while re watching the video - that she did herself no favors by releasing an eight minute intro, and instead simply should have gone for the short version of the video and release only the visuals for the song. Because as a standalone it's really good and it works, and I can get behind that shit.

So after almost eight minutes of irrelevant exploration in Gaga's head -which pretty much led  us to nowhere; Besides the fact that we now know, that she likes mint as a color, she's into nurses with great asses, she's jagged Madonna's style again and that an inmate likes to eat gummy bears with a knife- the video finally starts.

The scenery was amazing, from the burning cars, to the dark colors, Gaga's fierce posing on top of the car, showing of her banging physique, to the fiery kerosene explosions, the light reflecting on Gaga's greased up body. All this summed up, makes for an amazing introduction to the song.

The song continues to the (already released) first dancing scene in the studio, where Gaga effortlessly drops one of this years best choreography's and shits all over your faves. I have no clue what happened here, and I know, I know that Ms. Germanotta is not the best dancer, but gurl did was her dancing air tight.  All them dancers where dancing in comfort gear, but bitch was dancing in heels, she was dancing in heels like her career depended on it. Bitch was proving to Laurie Ann Gibson, she can can hustle without her. Respect to the dancing, because it was spot on.

So after random shots, several dancing scenes, it takes only one sequence to finally make me understand what this woman was trying to explain all the way. This was Gaga before actually being the Gaga that we know, the Gaga who got dropped from Def Jam, the one who hit rock bottom and explored the world of drugs (cereal anyone, who does this shit on a normal state of mind ???), the Gaga auditioning like crazy, the Gaga tripping down the stairs, the Gaga trying to fit her huge hat in a car, the woman who put all her effort to become what she is today.

She should have left out that eight minute non-sense, and went straight to town. This could have been directed so much better, without having unnecessary scenes. This video might not be perfect and she might have ruined it a bit, but it is one of her better videos and it might be the best video that came out of the "Born this way"-Era. I really loved the style and the clothing and everything, but this Lady needs to learn that less is more.

She might get there at some point, but she needs to do a lot of trimming and strip away from all her gimmicks.
