News: The Black Eyed Peas to go on hiatus!

There's been quite a bit of internet talk over the past few weeks about the future of the Black Eyed Peas. Fergie would be possibly leaving the group to focus on her family, be a housewife and probably pop a child by the end of 2012. So there were of course rumors of a replacement, and no other then the R&B "diva" Ashanti would be taking her place as the resident lady Pea in the group.

However a rep for the Black Eyed Peas spilled the beans, and denied those rumors. That's definitely a bummer for Ashanti, who's been irrelevant for quite some years, and her days when she sucked off Ja Rule for some featuring songs are long gone. So who's going to replace Fergie if she leaves?

NOBODY! Yaaasssssssss! They're going on hiatus. Finally all angels are singing "hallelujah". I really thought this day would never arrive. Now all we need is for Will.I.Ain't to get hit by a truck and we're all set! Happy people all around the world, yaassss!!!!

The BEP stepped by to announce the news on Ellen:

But let's just think about this for a minute. What would happen if they'd make a comeback and Fergie would finally realise how bad the BEP have gotten over the past 3 years, how generic Will.I.Ain't's beats are and how better she's off alone? Who would replace her, now this time for real?

Here's a quartet of wildly speculative ideas:

Nicole Scherzinger
+ Nicole has the chops and the charisma to shine in a group and was making more or less the same music and is an expert in R&B and Pop. Plus, her career is about to tank again, and trust me don't hold your breath Killer Love will never see the light of day in the USA. So it's now or never and jump on that train Nicole, while it's still there.
She doesn't seem to be interesting enough on her own, since the only real success she can speak of, was of the one she had with the PCD.

Nicki Minaj
Minaj is already an established rapper and entertainer. She's very versatile and can do about everything from Hip Hop to RnB along with Pop and she even started doing David Guetta microwave-electro. So trust me on that she will get very well along with Will's mediocre productions. Plus she's featuring everywhere already.
- There's no way she might join the group, she gets bigger by the minute. Her personality would be suffocated in that foursome constellation.

Missy Elliott
+ Sure, she has sworn off performing for the sake of her writing and production career, but wouldn't it be friggin' amazing to have Missy back and teach Will.I.Ain't how to do decent Hip Hop again? Com'on we all can't wait for her to put her thing down, flip it and reverse it!
- Ain't no way Missy would rap over Will's cheap production. They're style is to different, and Will has gotten way to mainstream and pop for Missy.

JoJo
Like Nicole her career has been hung up by record-business non-sense, but she's totally has got the talent, the energy and the sass to carry the Fergie torch.
- We have no clue if she plays well in a team, since there's not many collaborations in her almost non-existent discography (if you can even call it like that).

What do you think?

  1. good lord! i almost shed a tear of happiness when i read those news. i've been waiting for this to happen ever since i heard that awful 'i got a feeling' song. now let's hope fergie ditches them forever and releases a new solo album.

but out of those four i think nicole would have the highest chances to get in BEP. she is obviously struggling to make it on her own and i think if will.i.am would actually ask her to join, she would immediately agree.

btw, weren't there also rumours some time ago claiming that cheryl cole will replace fergie ferg?

  2. Yeah, I think I heard something like that too. It would probably fit, but I think that Cheryl Cole is to busy trying to establish herself as a solo-artist, plus there's already rumors of a Girls Aloud reunion.

Fergie needs to ditch BEP like yesterday! She's so much better on her own.
